Megan Stanek

Megan received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Arizona State University and her Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling from Northern Arizona University. She currently holds an independent license in the state of Arizona as a Professional Counselor (LPC) and is a certified clinical supervisor through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health. Megan has formal training in EMDR, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing and is an SE™ Practitioner in Training through the Somatic Experiencing® Trauma Institute. Prior to starting in the mental health field, Megan spent nine years working in various sectors of business management including finance, sales management, and human resources and recruiting. The skills acquired during this time combined with her passion and training in mental health has given her the tools and experience to manage the administrative needs of Taproot Therapy from foundation to current day to day management.

Seema Bacon

She/Her
Seema received her Master of Arts in Art Therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is a Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC), the highest credentials held in Art Therapy. She additionally holds an independent license in the state of Arizona as a Professional Counselor (LPC) and is a certified clinical supervisor through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health. Seema has worked as a Rape Crisis Counselor, providing direct support and emotional processing for rape, sexual assault, and sexual abuse victims within the Chicagoland area. She extended upon this work, providing therapeutic support and processing through the Cook County Juvenile Courts Special Services Unit, working at one of the nation’s only programs that provided direct support to non-delinquents who were sexually abused and assaulted. Seema continued traveling through south Chicago, providing art therapy work to victims and survivors of trauma. She later relocated to the valley to nurture and grow her passion of helping others ‘truly see themselves’ grow within the walls and through the windows of Taproot Therapy. Seema oversees the clinical direction of Taproot Therapy offering supervision and training to all staff as well as founding important aspects of Taproot's mission to support clinical growth which includes case consultation, individual and group supervision, and training groups for those learning specialized modalities.

Shelby Heimberger

She/Her
Shelby received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Care Administration from Grand Canyon University in 2018 and holds Certified Professional Billing Credentials from the AAPC. As the Administrative and Billing Manager for Taproot Therapy, Shelby is a foundational part of the company's success, which made her the natural choice for the Administrative Director of Taproot Therapy Consulting. She has extensive training and experience in health care practice management. She has worked in many areas of health care administration including Upper Management, Operations, Medical Billing and Coding, Human Resources, Revenue Cycle Management, Practice Management as well as in many areas of mental and behavioral health. Her background includes playing a key role in the startup and management of a successful local pediatric ABA practice and preschool. She also was the Assistant Administrator at a local skilled nursing facility before joining the Taproot team.

Joshua Smith

Joshua received his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from University of Phoenix in 2016. He has diverse experience in various business sectors including operations, logistics, and finance with specialization in Accounts Receivable and Payables. He most recently worked as a Billing Specialist with a large fiscal intermediary organization specializing in helping people lead independent lives through participant-directed programs before joining the Taproot team. With this experience, Joshua strives to provide meaningful financial solutions for those who need care so they can focus on what's most important - their mental health. The Taproot team likes to refer to Joshua as the Jack of All Trades given his ingenuity, friendliness, and adaptability that allows him to jump into any aspect of day to day business needs without hesitation and figure out a viable solution.
